Why this GlaStar?

I bought N9103D for three reasons:

Well constructed

Of the half-dozen decent GlaStars on the market in mid-2011, I selected N9103D because it was by all appearances meticulously constructed by a perfectionist with a love for aviation. To me this airplane was the poster child for quality-built experimental aircraft.

"Over all this aircraft is in good shape and is a well built plane. The fit and finish are done well and the components are installed well." Read more

Economical

GlaStar N9103D is inexpensive to maintain. Mechanical problems are reduced because she was built properly from the start. With the assistance of local A&P mechanics, I also lower maintence costs by performing the aircraft's maintenance and repair myself. Since I am not the aircraft’s builder, an A&P mechanic performs the required Annual Condition Inspection.

This airplane is also cheap on avgas. Thanks to her Lycoming O-320 engine and Hartzell constant-speed prop this GlaStar burns less than 4 gallons/hour at 62 knots in level flight.
