Computerized records

In all my 50 years working as an airplane mechanic I've never seen a set of logbooks as fine as these.

Airframe, Engine, and Propeller logbooks and other records pertaining to this aircraft’s maintenance and inspection have been keyed into a computer.

N9103D’s total aircraft maintenance record-keeping system

Benefits

  • Simple, organized, and legible maintenance records
  • Instant retrieval of any aspect of the aircraft's records
  • Data security through multiple digital and paper backups of data
  • Hardcopy records printout for access anywhere
  • Peace of mind from knowing that valuable data is secure

Overview

N9103D reaps the benefit of a comprehensive aircraft maintenance record-keeping system. The system’s indexed sections simplify, organize, and centralize data relevant to any aspect of the aircraft’s recorded history. The record-keeping system provides instant retrieval of maintenance—with colour photographs where available—of work performed, airworthiness directives, service bulletins and letters, and inspection requirements for the aircraft.

Description

The GlaStar’s record-keeping system resides on a computer hard drive with multiple backups secured offsite. A hardcopy version of the system’s records is maintained in tabbed sections in a three-ring binder, with signatures written in ink added to each entry for maintenance and annual condition inspections as required by FAR §43.9. Additionally, N9103D’s handwritten entries and attachments to the original ASA-brand logbooks (which are securely stored) dating prior to 2011 have been scanned and saved in PDF format to preserve evidence of original signatures and content. The scanned pages were then added to the GlaStar’s digital record-keeping system to complete the computerization of the aircraft’s records.

Sections dealing with recurring airworthiness directives and service bulletins combine the full text of each directive or bulletin with an associated maintenance-compliance form.

Tabbed sections of the hardcopy version contained in the three-ring binder are:

  • Airframe Logbook
  • Engine Logbook
  • Propeller Logbook
  • All GlaStar Service Bulletins
  • GlaStar Recurring Service Bulletins
  • GlaStar Service Letters
  • Lycoming Airworthiness Directives
  • Hartzell Airworthiness Directives
  • Avionics Service Bulletins
  • Annual Condition Inspections
  • Weight and Balance

A separate file contains an individual component-maintenance index for service, life, and TBO-limited components.
